"The Devonshire Foundation redefines collaborative in the best possible way. Our grant award was completely transformative for Catie's Closet. Even more valuable was the partnership and support in developing a strategy for our expansion."

-Mickey Cockrell, Catie's Closet

About Us

The Devonshire Foundation is a private foundation that seeks to create measurable and sustainable impact by supporting ready-for-growth programs addressing social and environmental issues.

Historically, The Devonshire Foundation served as the Howland family’s foundation, allowing the family the ability to make charitable donations anonymously. Today, the foundation employs a strategic approach to create sustainable change.

Capacity Building

The Howlands were keenly focused on programs where the foundation’s support could have a significant multiplier effect. Today, The Devonshire Foundation supports capacity building with

  • grants that enable staff and operational growth,
  • challenge or matching grants, and
  • grants that serve to foster growth in the nonprofit sector.

The Devonshire Foundation has a preference for multi-year grants in order to give partner grantees the visibility and resources to achieve their long-term goals.

Collaboration

The Devonshire Foundation sees our grantees as partners and we aim to work closely with them. Collaborating with partner organizations is an essential component to our grant making. The Devonshire Foundation works with partners to establish clear and measurable reporting requirements that are not overly burdensome to grantees, but provide a clear measure of the impact.
